Thanks LeBron!
I'm sad for the city of Cleveland. I'm a huge Browns fan and I love the Indians. But, Cleveland has won no championship of any kind since 1964.
I know Cubs fans will cry, but Chicago had the Bulls and the Bears. Even the White Sox won a championship.
Long suffering Red Sox fans were moaning about championships, but you had the Celtics and their 800 rings...not to mention the Patriots.
In Cleveland...we have "The Drive", "The Fumble", "The Shot" and "The Move".
LeBron James was the only hope of a championship of any kind for Cleveland. Thursday...he not only broke our hearts, he stabbed us in the back, with no apologies.
The Indians are mired in last place...again.
The Browns...well, they're the Browns.
But LeBron gave all of us Cleveland fans, the maybe...just maybe, we too will be able to raise a championship banner someday. The hopes and dreams of that were on his shoulders. Being a hometown boy made that seem even more attainable.
But on Thursday, with seven words, LeBron (or LeBum as some are calling him), killed those hopes. He killed those dreams. The Cavs are now the Sacramento Kings of the Eastern Conference. Don't believe me. Ask anyone to name some one on either team. I guarantee the first word they say will be "um".
I hope LeBron never wins a championship.
Thanks LeBron for breaking our hearts. Thanks for abandoning our dreams.
Hang in there, Cleveland. The sports gods owe us a break. Hopefully we get it in our lifetimes. |
